BTS's agency Big Hit Music announced on the 26th that it has appointed GM Shin Sun-jung as its new CEO.
Shin Sun-jung, the new CEO, joined Big Hit Entertainment, the predecessor of Hive, in 2010 and contributed to the birth and early growth of BTS. In particular, he served as Hive T&D (Training & Development) office manager and GM, leading the advancement of the new development system, such as selecting trainees tailored to the characteristics of each Hive label and developing and operating educational programs.
Artists who debuted through the T&D program include BTS BTS Tomorrow X Together, ENHYPEN, Leceraphim, and TEAAM.In recognition of this contribution,
Shin was also named in the "2022 Billboard 40 Under 40" category, which considers young leaders under the age of 40 leading the global music industry, and the "2023 Billboard Women in Music" category, which selects female artists, creators, producers, and management who have had a great influence on the music industry.
Big Hit Music said Shin's appointment is expected to further strengthen sustainable growth and competitiveness in the global music market. Based on his experience and expertise in the industry, he will take the lead in stabilizing and upgrading the label operating system and expanding new businesses.
CEO Shin Young-jae, who has led Big Hit Music for four years since 2020, is committed to serving as the first CEO of Hive Music Group APAC (HYBE MUSIC GROUP APAC), which oversees the domestic and Japanese multi-label business among the music business sectors.
Hive Music Group APAC was established in August under the Hive New Growth Strategy 'Hive 2.0' and focuses on strengthening strategies and processes needed to grow and innovate the label business, investing in resources and upgrading music service functions.
