The Busan International Children's Book Fair, the first children's book exhibition in Korea, opened today (28th) and will continue until the 1st of next month at BEXCO, Busan.
The book fair, which will be held under the theme of [Laputa], an imaginary country from Gulliver's travelogue, will feature 193 publishers from 16 countries, including Korea, the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia.More than 110 famous writers at home and abroad, including Baek Hee-na of
[Cloud Bread], Lee Su-ji, winner of the Andersen Prize, David Kali, a Swiss children's literature writer, and Lin Lian of Taiwan, winner of the 2012 Bologna La Gacha Prize, will also meet readers in person.
In addition, related organizations in Busan and Gyeongnam, such as the Busan Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Busan Library, and the Hyundai Children's Book Art Museum, will also participate to introduce various children's contents.
The Korea Publishing Culture Association and the Busan Metropolitan Government announced that they will develop the Busan Children's Book Fair into a global children's content platform such as the Bologna International Children's Book Fair in Italy to overcome the stagnation of the domestic children's book market.
