[Gyeonggi] Gyeonggi Office of Education Raises School Construction Criteria to 6th Floor... "Resolving Overcrowded Classes"

2024.11.07 PM 03:39
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education said it will come up with and implement a "measure to improve the new school facility project" to raise the standard for the number of floors in school buildings to solve overcrowded class problems in some areas of the district.

Previously, elementary schools could build up to five floors based on 36 classes and middle and high schools up to four floors based on 24 classes, but according to the improvement plan, up to six floors can be built.

If the number of floors of the school building is raised by applying the improvement plan, the provincial education office will bear additional costs.

The improvement plan first applies to three new schools.

The target schools are Shinhyeon 1 Middle School (tentative name) in Gwangju, which is scheduled to open in March 2027, Osan Segyo 2-3 High School (tentative name) and Hwaseong Dongtan 12 High School (tentative name) which are scheduled to open in March 2028.
