A suspected highly pathogenic avian influenza was reported at a meat duck farm in Geumwang-eup, Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.
According to Chungcheongbuk-do, a suspicious report was received at a duck farm today and detailed examination revealed H5 type avian influenza and AI antigens.If
is confirmed to be highly pathogenic, Chungcheongbuk-do will be the first in two years since the last highly pathogenic AI outbreak at Cheongju Bell Farm in November 2022.After the
report, Chungcheongbuk-do decided to urgently deploy an initial quarantine team to the farm to control the access of people and poultry, and bury 20,000 ducklings raised in farms.
Areas within 500m, 3km, and 10km radius of the farm where occurrence occurred shall be designated as management areas, protected areas, and forecast areas, respectively,
Restrictions on movement will be imposed on 66 farms and 12 epidemiological farms in the
area, and detailed AI inspections will be carried out on 52 duck farms in Chungbuk.
In addition, quarantine authorities also issued a 24-hour temporary suspension of movement for duck farms and duck-related livestock facilities nationwide.
It is the second time that a report of highly pathogenic AI has been received in Chungbuk since the first outbreak of highly pathogenic AI at a spawning farm in Donghae, Gangwon-do, on the 29th of last month.
