The Coast Guard is conducting a search after a fishing boat sank in the sea near Jeju Island.

Only 15 of the 27 crew members were rescued and the remaining 12 are being searched.

Yes, it was around 4:30 a.m. today (8th) that a fishing boat was reported to be sinking in the sea about 24 kilometers northwest of Biyangdo Island, Jeju.The ship in the

accident was a large fishing boat with more than 120 tons, with a total of 27 people on board.

Another ship passing by rescued 15 people, but two of them were taken to the hospital unconscious.

The other 12 are still missing.

Of the 27 crew members on board, 16 were Koreans, and the remaining 11 were foreigners.

The Korea Coast Guard launched the Central Rescue Headquarters to search and rescue the scene.

The head of the Jeju Provincial Coast Guard is also in charge of the search operation on the spot in a mobile boat.

The Jeju Coast Guard said a helicopter, two patrol boats and a coastal rescue boat are carrying out rescue operations at the site, and two more patrol boats and rescue teams are being deployed.

About 10 civilian fishing boats are also participating in the search, and the Navy is also reportedly scheduled to be dispatched to help search the site.

President Yoon Suk Yeol issued an emergency order from the Korea Coast Guard to make every effort to search and rescue lives by mobilizing all available resources and to pay attention to the safety of rescuers.
