"Let's die together. I'll give you up".Adopted Daughter Abused Woman in 40's Sentence Suspended

Yeongwol Jiwon of Chuncheon District Court sentenced 44-year-old A, who was accused of continuing to abuse by saying that he would give up his adopted teenage daughter, to 10 months in prison and two years of probation.

Mr. A was put on trial against his daughter, 19-year-old B, whom he adopted in 2005, on charges of physical and emotional abuse three times from 2012 to January 2022.

A was found to have emotionally abused her daughter by saying, "I can't do it together," while talking to B, who was 17 years old, on the phone in 2022, because she was angry that her daughter often stayed at her boyfriend's house.

In the spring of 2016, when Ms. B was 11 years old, she said, "Let's die together with a weapon because of economic difficulties," and when Ms. B, who learned that she was adopted in 2021, said, "Why did you bring her if this is the case?" she repeated the abuse, such as slapping her face.

The court said the victim complained of considerable mental distress and that A's actions were beyond the scope of legitimate discipline, but overall, he seemed to have committed such acts for the purpose of discipline.
