All administrative procedures to lift the green belt on the site of Ulsan Sports Park have been completed.

As a result, Ulsan City has decided to expand its sports and convenience facilities in earnest, including the construction of a youth hostel and the first canoe slalom stadium in Korea.

JCN Ulsan Central Broadcasting Station reporter Jeon Woo-soo reports.

The Ulsan Urban Planning Committee deliberated and voted to lift the green belt on 930,000 square meters of the Ulsan Sports Park site.

All administrative procedures for lifting the green belt in the Ulsan Sports Park area, which were promoted as part of the lifting of the development restriction zone, the 8th popular election pledge, have been completed and only the official release notice is left on the 28th.

Since July last year, the conditions for lifting green belts in non-metropolitan local governments have been expanded from 300,000 square meters to less than 1 million square meters.

Ulsan City plans to further strengthen Ulsan's sports competitiveness by expanding various sports facilities and attracting international sports competitions in the sports park where the green belt has been lifted.

[Kim Doo-gyeom / Ulsan Mayor: Ulsan Sports Park was very difficult to lift because 1/3 of the total area was Grade 1 or 2 of the environmental evaluation, but today we lifted it like this. In the future, we plan to promote the project in a way that minimizes forest damage or water pollution in the process of using the site.]

First of all, a 100-room youth hostel that can accommodate more than 300 players will be built outside Munsu Baseball Stadium by 2028.

The spectators' seats at Munsu Baseball Stadium will also be expanded from 12,000 seats to 17,000, an increase of 5,000 seats.

Near the indoor swimming pool, the water sports canoe slalom stadium is built.

With a width of 20m and an extension of 260m that meets international competition standards, it is expected to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Ulsan, a sports city.

In addition, a three-story convenience facility with a convenience store, rest restaurant, book cafe, and observation deck is built near Okdong Reservoir,
More than a thousand additional parking spaces will be created in the parking lot of tennis courts and soccer fields to resolve the parking shortage.

An eight-sided indoor tennis court will also be established around Munsu Tennis Court.

Ulsan Sports Park will be reborn soon with the expansion of various sports and leisure facilities, including the establishment of youth hostels and canoe slalom centers.
