This year, the number of foreign seasonal workers employed by farms in Gyeonggi-do has more than doubled from last year.
As of September this year, 2,587 foreign seasonal workers were employed by farmers in the province, up 1,533 from 1,054 in the same period last year.
If the number of employees between October and November, which is the harvest season, is reflected, the number of foreign seasonal workers is expected to increase further this year.
In addition, 4,411 foreign seasonal workers applied for next year at 20 city and county farms in the province.
Accordingly, the province decided to provide "human rights education for employers participating in the foreign seasonal worker project in 2025" at the Gyeonggi-do Rural Human Resources Support Center until the 4th of next month to stably settle the foreign seasonal worker project and protect the human rights of workers.
The training will be conducted for 310 employers in nine cities and counties, including Hwaseong, Namyangju, Pyeongtaek, Paju, Gimpo, Gwangmyeong, Anseong, Pocheon, and Yangpyeong.
In the training, explanations will mainly be made on employer compliance, guidance on the Labor Standards Act for Foreign Seasonal Workers, prevention of human rights violations, and guidance on the results of on-site consultations for workers.
