[Green] Rural Development Administration develops 'Dodam rice' effective in managing blood sugar and obesity.

The National Institute of Food Sciences of the Rural Development Administration signed a patent technology transfer agreement with Biomoa Medical Co., Ltd. on the 27th to strengthen the functionality of Dodam rice, which contains a lot of "resistance starch" to help manage blood sugar by slowly raising blood sugar with starch containing more than 90% dietary fiber.

The Rural Development Administration explained that processing and eating "Dodam rice" is effective in preventing diabetes and inflammation, and that the two organizations will cooperate in areas such as prevention of obesity and materialization of anti-blood sugar foods using "Dodam rice."

Biomoa Medical is a company that develops and produces health foods and household goods, and this year, it has produced raw grains necessary for the development of processed products on a scale of 20 hectares through contract cultivation with the farming corporation 'Eco-friendly South Sea', and plans to expand the contract cultivation scale further next year.

During the discussion following the business agreement, participants shared policy trends and the latest technologies, including the direction of processed rice development policies, data-driven customized blood sugar management and diet in the era of digital health care.

Kwak Do-yeon, director of the National Institute of Food Sciences of the Rural Development Administration, said, "We hope that 'resistance starch' will reveal the human effect of increased 'dodam rice' to further increase the value of our rice and promote consumption."

"Through this technology transfer and commercialization, we plan to supply K-food using functional rice for diet to the world based on Rice-Tech," said CEO Lee Dong-han of Biomoa Medical.
