On the morning of the coldest weather this winter, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited a dosshouse in Donui-dong, Seoul.
This is to check cold wave measures for the vulnerable in winter.
Mayor Oh visits every corner of the alley to inspect safety facilities such as fire prevention systems, and meets with residents of dosshouses to ask how they are doing.
[Sehun / Mayor of Seoul: Will there be a lot of cold wind here?]
[Resident: It's warm if you close the door over there. (Oh, because it's double?) It's warm here because I turned on the boiler. Compared to other places.]
With the start of the strongest cold wave in earnest, Seoul's special protection measures for dosshouses in winter will be strengthened.
The on-site patrol team checks the health and safety of residents day and night, and elderly people with disabilities or mobility difficulties are managed as special care targets through nurses at the local counseling center or outside medical institutions.
Heating products and groceries, which were provided with 10,000 items to residents of dosshouses last year, also increased 10 times more this year.
[Choi Young-min / Head of the consultation center in Donui-dong, Seoul: The water may freeze or the boiler may freeze, so we plan to thoroughly prepare things such as freezing in winter and cold-weather supplies for residents.]
When the special cold wave warning goes into effect, the city will operate the cold wave support situation room 24 hours a day and expand facilities to reduce cold wave in daily life such as heating chairs and windproof tents throughout the city.
