Seongnam City Council Member Requesting Administrative Trial to Cancel Disciplinary Action Against Provincial Office of Education

A member of the Seongnam City Council in Gyeonggi-do, whose child was identified as a perpetrator of school violence, has filed an administrative trial with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education over the measures taken by the School Violence Countermeasures Review Committee.The

Provincial Office of Education said Lee Young-kyung (independent) of Seongnam City Council submitted an administrative trial request on the 10th to cancel the school violence committee's disciplinary action.

Earlier, at Seohyun Elementary School in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, four students committed violence against one other student in April-June by mixing snacks and sand in the park and weighing themselves down for performing game penalties.

Among the perpetrators, Lee's children were included.

The education authorities held a review of the school violence committee and issued a written apology to two of the students and a class replacement, and a written apology to one less involved, four hours of service at the school, and the other.
