Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province, has canceled the rental of singer Lee Seung-hwan's concert venue scheduled for Christmas.

The request for Lee, who publicly voted for the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol's president, to write a pledge to ban "political agitation" was directly triggered, and legal action was even foreseen.

Silence rises at the Gumi Culture and Arts Center, where the 35th anniversary concert of singer Lee Seung-hwan's debut was scheduled to be held on Christmas.

Gumi City, which rented the venue two days before the performance, canceled the rental for safety reasons.

Gumi City said that despite the request to refrain from political agitation, Lee made a political comment at a performance in Suwon on the 14th that it was good to be impeached, and later refused to sign a pledge to ban political agitation.

He then explained that it was a measure for safety as local civic groups' rallies against this were announced.

Lee Seung-hwan immediately strongly opposed Gumi City's notice of cancellation of the rental.

In a post on social media, he said he could not agree that the cancellation of the rental was for safety, and refuted that Gumi City made an unfair demand to write a pledge when the rental date was imminent, and when he refused to do so, he penalized him.

He also warned of a swift legal action, saying that it should not happen in a democratic country where freedom of expression is the top priority.
