The Seoul Transportation Corporation, which operates the Seoul Metro, is unable to pay employees' evaluation pay due to financial difficulties.
According to the data received by Yoon Hyung-hee, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's People's Power, from the Seoul Transportation Corporation, the company's available funds were 56.6 billion won, and it was not possible to raise 140 billion won in employee evaluation within this year.
The corporation will borrow new financial debt next year and pay evaluation in January.
Lawmaker Yoon said, "The chronic deficit of the Seoul subway has caused construction employees to experience the third wage delay after 2020 and 2021," stressing that the city should hurry to raise 150 won in fares, which have been delayed since last year, as well as provide funding.
