In any case, we are living in the band era, or we are at the beginning of it. I think it was a time when band music was so popular and loved, whether it had been trained by a large agency or came up looking at the indie floor of Hongdae.

Those who have been active under the name of Dick Fengs since 2007 also have a certain stake in the current band boom. Dick Fengs, who has been singing "Youth" while keeping the band's frame when his fellow bands were dying out, stood in front of fans in two years and nine months with "First Love, This Song."

"To be honest, we went through a little bit of a recession two years ago. It was a time when I had a lot of worries about the direction to move forward, and even if I put out my work, there was no such result, so I lost my fun. "But I talked a lot with the members and slowly got in the direction, and the result is this album." (Kim Tae-hyun)

"It was a time to look at the old works and think back to when we did this kind of music. I had a lot of worries about the things that all the members liked while writing the song, but this album gave me confidence that we were doing good music."

Dick Fungs' "First Love, This Song" is a bright song that is Dick Fungs, but it is not buried in the theme of "Youth." The main method and singing method were used to create a bright atmosphere but give warmth suitable for winter. I suddenly wondered what they defined as the definition of "dick-fung-like."

"When you think of Dixfengs, everyone sees a lot of positive things. We also have a lot of concerns in terms of music, but I think it's our color to see us as an optimistic and bright band. But there's also a part where I'm held back by this 'Dikpunkishness'. When I play a minor song like other bands, I hear a lot of people say, "It's not like you." I used to have those concerns, but now I'm talking about making a song with everything open."

Dick Fungs' recession began with such concerns. There was a lot of help from the newly established company to overcome it and produce the results of today. In order to make the

" album, all the members were obliged to make one song a week and bring it back. And when we listen to music, the song is good, but we often just move on thinking about whether it fits us. I needed something to keep my balance. That's why I joined this company. "It's not the answer, but I needed a guide who said, 'This is right or not, and I got a lot of help." (Kim Tae-hyun)

"After coming into the company, it was nice to be able to do music without worrying about anything else. With the help of the company, I have time to look into our music a little more, and even if I stay up all night in the recording studio, no one says anything, so I feel secure."

Maybe what Dick Fengs needed the most was a fence where they could run around. While talking about the stability of the fence, they recalled the COVID-19 period, which was like a nightmare for everyone.

"At that time, even if the show was only scheduled, it was canceled within a week or two, and it was repeated indefinitely. The problem was that I didn't know how long those things would continue. It was too long and I thought maybe I wouldn't be able to be in a band like this." (Park Garam)
I chose bass when I was in the third grade of
middle school, and I was told that it was difficult to make a living with music. During COVID-19, I also thought that my choice in the past was really wrong. It was a time when I was really afraid of the future." (Kim Jae-heung)

But eventually, Dick Fengs survived. It has endured COVID-19 and passed the period when band music was not so loved. The festival lineup is overflowing with bands, and they even met a world where bands win major categories trophies at famous awards ceremonies. It's been 17 years since I survived like that.

"The fact that we've maintained our team for 17 years without changing members is something we never left out when we brag about ourselves. Even if you look at it as a band or an idol group, this is very rare. I want to continue my activities while maintaining the team." (Kim Tae-hyun)

The comeback after two years and nine months and the band boom that coincided with it. I wonder how Dick Fengs and fans who have been waiting for them will ride the wave of the band's boom in the future.

"This is a pre-release song, and I'm going to release an EP album early next year. And we are planning active activities such as performances and festivals. "I'm planning to release a full-length album and a concert at the end of the year." (Kim Hyun-woo)
