After President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment bill was passed by the National Assembly, the ruling party's leadership was on the verge of collapse due to the resignation of the Supreme Council members of the People's Power, and former Saenuri Party Chairman Kim Moo-sung is being considered as the next emergency committee chairman, led by pro-Yoon-gye.
Nocut News reported that multiple senior lawmakers, including Kwon Sung-dong, floor leader of the People's Power, recommended Kim Moo-sung as the emergency chairman at a recent meeting.
However, former CEO Kim Moo-sung's intention is unknown.
According to a key party official, former leader Kim was considered as the next chairman of the emergency committee because he judged that it was important to have "experience" to stabilize the party even though it was irrelevant to his presidential bid at a time when the possibility of an "early presidential election" increased due to the passing of Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment bill.
"Breathing" with floor leader Kwon Sung-dong also seems to have affected the recommendation.
A key party official said, "There have been comments from senior lawmakers that floor leader Kwon follows former leader Kim well."
Kim Moo-sung served as the party leader and floor leader of the ruling Saenuri Party and the Grand National Party, respectively, the predecessor of the people's power.
