Smilegate announced today (24th) that its global mega-hit FPS game 'Crossfire' has been adopted as an official event for the 'Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025' scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia.
EWC is the world's largest comprehensive e-sports competition hosted by the Saudi Arabia Esports World Cup Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the EWC Federation). Crossfire signed a three-year partnership with the EWC Federation and joined the tournament as one of 18 events in various genres, including FPS, MOBA, Battle Royale, real-time strategy simulation, and fighting. EWC 2025 will be held next summer in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Launched in 2007, Crossfire is an online FPS game featuring a war between global risk and blacklisting, a hypothetical private military company, with 1.1 billion users combined with online and mobile platforms in 80 countries around the world. CFS, a crossfire e-sports competition, celebrated its 11th anniversary this year. The CFS 2024 Grand Final, the most prestigious CFS, ended in Hangzhou, China on the 15th.
EWC, held for the first time last year, is an e-sports festival where top players compete for the largest prize money ever, covering platforms and genres. In EWC 2024, 200 clubs and 1,500 athletes from 100 countries participated in 21 events. The total prize money amounted to $60 million (about 86 billion won). The eight-week competition was watched by 2.6 million people and achieved 500 million views.
