Prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence for his brother-in-law, identified only by his surname Lee, who was accused of spreading false information about broadcaster Park Soo-hong's private life.

Prosecutors asked Lee to be sentenced to 10 months in prison today (11th) at a trial held by Judge Kang Young-ki of the Seoul Western District Court.

The prosecution argued, "The crime is not light because it defamed several acquaintances by making fatal false statements about celebrity victims in a chat room that is easy to spread."

Also added that Lee denied the crime and did not reflect on it, and Park hoped for strong punishment.

However, Lee's lawyer pleaded not guilty, saying, "I had no intention of slander the victim."

He also said, "The defendant believed that it was true that he told his acquaintances by combining what he witnessed firsthand and what he heard from his parents-in-law, and there is considerable reason for believing that."

Lee appealed to the court that he and her husband were branded as "rioters" after allegations were raised that they embezzled Park's money and that their children were not living a normal life.

The sentencing hearing for Lee will be held on October 23.

Lee was put on trial on charges of sending a message containing false facts about Park in a Kakao Talk group chat room with the aim of slandering him.

Apart from the case, Park, Lee's husband and Park's brother, was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial after being found guilty of embezzling 2 billion won in corporate funds while exclusively managing his younger brother's management. Lee was found not guilty in the trial.
