A man who was put on trial for murdering a Japanese neighbor has denied all charges in his first trial.

The Seoul Western District Court held its first hearing today (30th) against a man in his 30s, identified only by his surname Baek, who is charged with murder and other charges.

Prosecutors explained that Baek wielded a sword to kill a man in his 40s on July 29, and that he used the sword for other purposes than permission or legitimate purposes in the process.

He also added that before the crime, he insulted the first customer by swearing at him because he was looking at him at a cafe in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.

In response, Baek claimed that state power inspected him and that he committed murder in self-defense, and that he used the Japanese island for legitimate purposes in the process.

In addition, he denied the facts themselves about the allegations of insulting at the cafe. The next hearing on

Baek will be held on the 7th of next month, and the decision will also be made on whether to accept the public participation trial that Baek applied for earlier.
