Seoul National University Medical School has approved the leave of absence submitted by students in protest against the increase in medical schools.

Seoul National University Medical School officials said they have confirmed that applications for leave of absence for the first semester submitted by medical students have been approved as of yesterday (30th).

A university official said the dean of the medical school, who is authorized to approve the leave of absence, seems to have decided without informing the university or professors in advance.

This is the first time the government has approved the leave of absence after announcing its "no-alliance policy" in relation to the legislative conflict.

The Seoul National University Medical School professor's emergency committee said that the academic schedule for medical schools is tight unlike other universities, and that it supports the dean's decision to approve students' leave of absence for proper medical education.
