In response to Iran's large-scale ballistic missile attack on Israel, U.S. President Biden called it a failed attack and emphasized support and close consultation with Israel.

Claiming that it happened in the absence of U.S. leadership, former President Trump attacked Vice President Harris, saying that the world would burn down if he was elected.

Correspondent Hong Sang-hee's report from Washington.

U.S. President Biden called Iran's missile attack a failure and evaluated it as a success with the active support of the U.S. military.

[Joe Biden/President of the United States] The (Iranian) attack was defeated and does not appear to be effective. It's evidence of Israeli and U.S. military forces.]

He said the U.S. fully supports Israel and is in constant contact with Israel about the situation.

The U.S. State Department and Defense Department also stressed close cooperation with Israel, stressing that Iran's attacks will have consequences.

[Mash Miller / U.S. State Department spokesman] Of course, there must be consequences of this Iranian attack. We have made it clear that the consequences will definitely be followed. There are things to coordinate with the Israeli side on this.

It is interpreted as a response to criticism that the Biden administration has lost control in the Middle East's armed conflict as the U.S. recently failed to persuade Israel.

Following Israel's assassination of Hezbollah head Hasan Nasrallah on the 27th of last month without prior notice to the United States,
When U.S. President Biden broke into Lebanon's border for the first time in 18 years shortly after calling for a ceasefire, Iran, which supports Hezbollah, launched a large-scale missile attack.

Vice President Harris suspended her campaign, monitored Iran's attack on Israel and discussed countermeasures with President Biden.

Former President Trump focused on Vice President Harris, saying he could have prevented the Iranian attack and would not have happened if he were president.

[Donald Trump/ Former U.S. President] The world, as you know, is spiraling out of control. There is no president or vice president to take responsibility. No one knows what's going on.]

Tensions in the Middle East are expected to rise further in the future as Israel warns Iran of retaliation.

With the presidential election just around the corner, Vice President Harris' global leadership has also been put to the test along with President Biden.
