Quantum technology, one of the three major game changers selected by the country along with AI Semiconductor and Advanced Bio.
Amid fierce competition around the world for the initiative in quantum technology, the 'Global Research Center for Quantum Materials' opened at Kyung Hee University.
The research center will conduct various studies related to quantum technology such as quantum materials, quantum computers, and quantum communication.
[Kim Jin-sang / President of Kyung Hee University: I will work hard with the researchers so that Kyung Hee University can leave the beautiful campus and be reborn as the best quantum technology in the world.]
Constantine Novoselov, a professor at the National University of Singapore, and Kim Philip, a professor at Harvard University, have been appointed to focus on international joint research in the quantum field.
In particular, Professor Novoselov, who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010 for discovering graphene, a new material of dreams, plans to lead international joint research as the head of the center.
[Constantin Novoselov / Director of Global Research Center for Quantum Materials at Kyung Hee University: Our main goal is to create new knowledge. So we will focus on interesting science on new quantum materials.]
The research center said it will work to strengthen its capabilities, including supporting educational equipment for undergraduate students and establishing a new quantum curriculum.
In addition, he added that as an institution leading national strategic technology in quantum technology, it will play an important role in securing future technology sovereignty.
