Foreign Press "Xi Jinping Calls Trump to Celebrate Presidential Victory"

Chinese President Xi Jinping called President-elect Donald Trump, who won the U.S. presidential election, CNN and Reuters reported.

CNN added that the call between Xi and Trump took place as world leaders tried to contact Trump using various official and informal channels.

However, Chinese authorities have yet to officially confirm the phone call between Xi and Trump.

However, at a regular briefing by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday (6th), when asked if President Xi would make a congratulatory call, the answer was that he would handle related matters in accordance with custom after the results of the U.S. presidential election were officially announced.

Earlier, China's foreign ministry said in a written statement posted on its website late last night that it respects the choices of the American people and congratulates Mr. Trump on his election as president.
