A man who confronted the police with a weapon in both hands while drunk in a residential area in Seoul last year was given a suspended prison sentence in the second trial.

The Seoul Western District Court sentenced A, a man in his 30s, to eight months in prison and two years of probation, as in the first trial, on charges of obstructing the execution of special public affairs today (7th).

The court rejected the prosecution's appeal, saying it was difficult to find new circumstances to change the original sentence and that the original sentence did not appear to be beyond reasonable scope.

A was put on trial in August last year on charges of making a disturbance in the parking lot on the first floor of a residential area in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, saying he would hurt himself with a weapon and threatening the dispatched police with a weapon.

Earlier, the first trial explained the reason for the sentencing, saying that it is sufficiently proven that A interfered with the police officer's legitimate execution of official duties, but that A was reflecting on himself and considering receiving psychiatric treatment.
