Iranian President Masud Pejeshikyan said "it makes no difference to Iran which candidate won the U.S. presidential election," according to Iranian state media.
According to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency, on the 7th local time, President Pezeshikyan said, "It is because what the Iranian state and system lean on is our inner strength."
President Fezeshikyan has not directly mentioned Trump's name and has not given much meaning to the presidential election.
This is interpreted as a reflection of Trump's vigilance against Iran, which took a hard line against Iran during his first term in power, including the unilateral dismantlement of the Western nuclear agreement in 2018, three years later.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Bagai, when asked about his stance on the U.S. presidential election at a briefing, replied, "It's up to the American people to elect a president, and they've made their choice."
"Iranians have had a very bitter experience going through previous U.S. administrations," Bagai said, adding that new elections provide an opportunity to reflect on and review past missteps.
