Hwaseong Mayor Chung Myung-geun said, "We will make Hwaseong Special City a 'special city for science and technology talent' by attracting KAIST-centered research facilities."

Mayor Chung held a municipal briefing and said, "We have established the principle of building a future-oriented city by cultivating creative and enterprising talents suitable for the era of high-tech industries."

Mayor Chung emphasized, "We will establish an integrated research base in the metropolitan area of KAIST, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), and Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Korea's four major science and technology institutes."

The 'Strategy for the Growth and Development of Science and Technology Talent' announced by the state in September includes the idea of expanding and fully supporting Meister High School centered on high-tech technology, he said. "The city intends to form a TF team to establish Meister High School and cultivate on-site technical talent to supply customized manpower in the semiconductor-future car-bio high-tech industry."
