Starting next month, non-face-to-face treatment prescriptions for the obesity treatment "Wigobi," which has been controversial for misuse, will be restricted.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will restrict the prescription of obesity treatments, including stomach cancer, for non-face-to-face treatment from the 2nd of next month.

Since the launch of the obesity treatment WeGobi last month, concerns have emerged that indiscriminate prescriptions and various forms of illegal distribution may occur.

While implementing such measures, the Ministry of Health and Welfare decided to review the plan to prepare a separate non-face-to-face treatment provision model by collecting opinions from experts and others by the first half of next year.

However, the Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to guide changes to the system with a two-week guidance period until the 15th of next month to reduce confusion in the field.
