The sculpture of General Witcombe, located at the United Nations Peace Park in Daeyeon-dong, Busan, has been designated as a memorial facility for the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
The sculpture was installed in November last year with the fundraising of more than 18,000 citizens in honor of the late General Richard Whitcomb, who was called the "father of war orphans" during the Korean War.
The general was buried at the U.N. Memorial Park in Busan in 1982 when he said, "I want to remain in Korea."
