The National Opera said baritone Yang Joon-mo and soprano Lim Se-kyung were selected for the "Opera Singer of the Year Award."
The Korea National Opera held awards ceremonies in seven categories yesterday at the Korea National Opera Education Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Baritone Yang Jun-mo was highly praised for promoting the charm of opera through major works such as Macbeth and Nabuco, serving as the leading singer of famous European theaters.
Im Se-kyung, a soprano who is called an unrivaled butterfly lady, has been recognized for her vigorous activity, performing on five to six operas a year in Korea.
In addition, the Yeongnam Opera Company, a local private arts organization that celebrated its 40th anniversary, received the "Opera Conducting Award" and the conductor Hong Seok-won received the "Opera Conducting Award."
The Korea Opera Awards is an event to reflect on the Korean opera world and promote development, and is an annual event jointly held by the National Opera and the Korea Opera Association.
