As if the beginning of winter had opened, it was the coldest in Seoul and other central regions, with yesterday's lowest temperature.

The severe cold came to the place where the snow clouds that poured heavy snow retreated.

Wearing hats and wearing thick padded coats, citizens hit the road with warm drinks in their hands, adding warmth.

Yesterday morning, the temperature in Seoul dropped to minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, marking the coldest day.
Many places recorded the lowest temperatures in the central region, including minus 7 degrees Celsius in the
frequency and minus 11 degrees Celsius in Daegwallyeong.

In particular, Anheung Sosari in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, plunged to minus 16.3 degrees Celsius.

This is because the effect of radiative cooling, in which heat escapes from the ground overnight, has increased as clouds are cleared and clear skies are revealed.

Moisture from snow accumulated here evaporated into the air, taking away heat and further encouraging a drop in temperature.

Contrary to concerns, the snow, which was expected to fall once more, was scattered or only a small amount due to weak snow clouds.

Jeju Island and some parts of Honam will have snow and rain until dawn due to the influence of the terrain, but the amount will not be large.

The extreme cold continues into this morning, the weekend. The temperature is expected to rise gradually from daytime.
