Pohang defeated Ulsan and Pohang to win its sixth career championship in the Korea Cup, which determines the best soccer club in the country, both professional and amateur.
Pohang came from behind to win the Korea Cup final 3-1 against Ulsan, its traditional opponent, after a neck-and-neck race to extra time at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Pohang gave up the first goal to Ulsan Joo Min-kyu in the 38th minute of the first half, but Jung Jae-hee scored the equalizer with a mid-range shot in the 24th minute of the second half, and Kim In-sung scored a golden header in the 7th minute of the second half to turn the game around.
Pohang, where Kang Hyun-je scored a wedge goal just before the end of the extra period, ruined Ulsan's dream of winning two gold medals this season, winning its sixth career title along with its second consecutive victory in the tournament.
Pohang, which had previously tied for the most wins in the Korea Cup with Jeonbuk and Suwon Samsung, will be the lone winner with this tournament's victory.
