Taiwan's president, via Hawaii...China makes official complaint to U.S.

China has made an official complaint to the United States through diplomatic channels over Taiwan President Lei Ching-de's arrival in Hawaii as a stopover for his first overseas trip since taking office.

In a statement posted on the ministry's website, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said, "We have severely condemned the U.S. for its arrangement of Lei Ching-de's 'exercise' and have raised strict negotiations with the U.S.."
