On the 11th of last month, a consultative body launched by the government, the ruling party and the medical community to find a solution to the medical crisis was suspended after three weeks.

The ruling party described it as a "rest period," but the medical community showed a difference in temperature, saying it confirmed that the party and the government had no will to solve the situation.

A consultative body involving the government, the ruling party and some medical professions has been closed three weeks after its launch, after running parallel over the number of medical schools for next year.

The ruling party and the government explained that the medical community's demand was difficult to accept in the face of the immediate announcement of the CSAT results on the 6th because of the practical difficulties and legal problems of confusion at the entrance examination site.

[Lee Man-hee / People's Power: For the time being, we decided to stop the official meeting and have a pause. Conversations between participating parties, including the medical community, will continue even during the pause.

Even with the 2026 increase, the government said that the discussion with the medical community that it should be held for now has not been reached.

In the end, the government and the ruling party's plan is to focus on behind-the-scenes negotiations by taking a breath for the time being.

The Korean Medical Association and the Medical Association participated in the Yeouido Council despite the stinging eyes of the medical community, but set the day that there was no change in the government's attitude.

It is argued that solutions to next year's increase problem, such as limiting the carry-over of the number of non-supplied employees on time, reducing the number of preliminary successful applicants, and ensuring autonomy in student selection, were also realistic enough.

They said they would discuss whether to participate in the consultative body in the future only if the government and the ruling party's flexible attitude was premised, and they did not leave out the bitter criticism that they were bystanders to the opposition party.

[Lee Jin-woo / Chairman of the Korean Medical Association: The government and the ruling party have made a disastrous decision to stop participating in the consultative body after confirming that they have no will to resolve the situation]

The ruling and opposition parties' council, which has been criticized for its limitations, was launched without key medical organizations such as opposition parties and major organizations.

The ruling party and the government praised progress in terms of restoring trust, and medical organizations also made achievements such as approval of medical student leave of absence, but
It seems difficult to avoid criticism that the goal of producing tangible results by the end of the year, such as
'Compliment Gift', has become overshadowed.
