The U.S. Department of Defense says it does not want any actors to exploit South Korea's impeachment.

Asked about the possibility of North Korea's provocations due to South Korea's political turmoil, Sabrina Singh, a deputy spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, said in a briefing that the democratic political process is underway in South Korea.

Asked if the talks between South Korea and the U.S. are going on normally despite the impeachment of South Korea, he said cooperation and dialogue with South Korea continue.

When asked why Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin did not go to South Korea during his recent visit to Japan, Singh explained that Austin had postponed his visit because of what happened in South Korea recently.

At the same time, Austin said he was wrapping up his 13th visit to the Indo-Pacific, adding that it showed how much emphasis the Biden administration and the Pentagon put on the region.
