Foreign media are paying attention to the resilience of the Korean stock market, which plunged due to the martial law crisis, saying it is overcoming the shock.

However, there have been voices of concern about the economic and trade response due to the leadership vacuum since the impeachment.

In the domestic stock market, expectations for an early settlement of the martial law crisis continued to rebound.

Bloomberg noted the resilience of the Korean economy, saying that the KOSPI index rose day after day and shook off the shock of the situation.

The iShares MSCI Korea ETF, an index fund that mainly invests in South Korea's leading companies on the New York Stock Exchange, also recovered after falling as low as 53 points at one point.

Moody's, an international credit rating agency, also maintains Korea's sovereign credit rating at a stable level of 'Aa2.

The exchange rate is also stabilizing little by little, but the future is the problem.

If leadership that has secured legitimacy is not established quickly, there is a concern that South Korea's priorities on the diplomatic stage will be pushed back after Trump's inauguration.

[Mark Gina / Mayor of Tenafly, N.J.: It's a very inconvenient situation. Korea is a representative democracy in the world. The National Assembly and the people have to make decisions, and that's a reasonable way to go.]

In particular, it can be difficult to respond quickly to changes in trade policy that must be resolved by normal diplomacy, such as Trump's universal tariffs.

Foreign media warn that political instability has increased the risk of South Korea's economic growth falling next year.

Experts believe that this situation should not be prolonged to minimize the adverse effects on the Korean economy.

In particular, we are keeping a close eye on the situation, believing that the key will be how the South Korean government takes an attitude toward the South Korea-U.S. alliance and Korea-China relationship after this incident.
