Major NATO, NATO and European Union countries will discuss the possibility of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine, U.S. political media outlet Politico Europe reported.

The meeting comes after U.S. President-elect Trump pressured European troops to stay in Ukraine after the end of the war.

During a three-way meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky and French President Macron on the 7th, Trump was quoted as saying that he wanted European troops to stay in Ukraine and monitor the ceasefire.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutter and President Zelensky will attend the closed-door meeting on the 18th local time.

Among EU members, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Macron and Polish President Andrzej Duda are said to have been invited.

There is also the possibility of the attendance of António Costa, the permanent president of the European Union's leadership, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the Commission.

NATO and the European Union have yet to make any official statements regarding the meeting.
