버락 오바마 상원의원이 미국 민주당 전당대회에서 대선 후보 지명을 수락했습니다.

오바마는 후보는 미국 대선 사상 첫 흑인후보로 공화당 매케인 후보와 치열한 선거전을 벌이게 됐습니다.

"깊은 감사와 겸허한 마음으로, 대선 후보 지명을 수락합니다. 이는 존 매케인 후보가 관심이 없어서가 아니라 제대로 이해하지 못하기 때문입니다. 20년 넘게 존 매케인은 부유한 사람들에게 더 많이 주고, 번영이 다행히도 모두에게 돌아가길 바라는 구시대적이고 신뢰를 잃은 공화당의 철학을 따라 왔습니다. 워싱턴에선 이를 오너십 사회로 부르지만, 본질은 결국 스스로 알아서 하라는 것입니다. 실직했다면 참 안된 일이고, 의료보험이 없다면 시장이 이를 해결해줄 것이며, 빈곤한 가정에서 태어났다면 알아서 빈곤의 늪에서 빠져 나오라는 것입니다. 이제 그들이 실패를 자인하고 우리가 미국을 바꿀 때입니다."
