The prosecution has sought the death penalty for Park Hak-sun, who was handed over to trial on charges of "conflict murder."
The prosecution made the request at the final hearing held at the Seoul Central District Court, saying that the case was an extreme case of negligent murder in which not only the woman but also her daughter were brutally killed when a woman she was dating notified of the breakup.
He also emphasized the need to raise the alarm about the growing crime between lovers.
The victim's lawyer also appealed for the most serious punishment set by the law, saying it was an unacceptable and heinous crime.
Park Hak-sun was put on trial on May 30 for killing a woman in her 60s and her daughter in her 30s who were dating her at an officetel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
It was investigated that Park Hak-seon visited the victims' office and killed B when his family was notified of the breakup for opposing dating, and then chased and killed A who was running away.
