Tomorrow (7th) marks a year since the outbreak of the Gaza War, which has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

While the war is spreading across the border with no way out, there are growing calls for an end to the war in many parts of the world.

This is reporter Lee Seung-yoon.

On October 7 last year, Hamas, a Palestinian militant faction, carried out what it called the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation and raided southern Israel, killing 1,200 people.

[Mohammad Daif / Hamas Commander] Today is the day of a great revolution that brings an end to the world's last occupation and Israel's discriminatory policies.]

[Benyamin Netanyahu / Prime Minister of Israel: We are at war. It's not a military operation, it's a war. This morning Hamas launched a murderous surprise attack on Israel and its people.

Israel has attacked Gaza with the aim of sweeping Hamas, killing more than 40,000 people, including more than 10,000 children, and 90% of Gaza's population has been evacuated.

Israel has eliminated Hamas as well as its supporters, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, and senior Iranian officials.

Last month, thousands of Hezbollah's communications units, radio callers and radios, exploded simultaneously in Lebanon.

Israel recently entered a ground war in southern Lebanon for the first time in 18 years, Iran launched 180 ballistic missile attacks on Israel, and the war seems to be spreading without finding an exit.

To mark the first year of the war, large-scale rallies were held in Sydney, Australia, London, the United Kingdom, New York, New York, France, Paris, Italy, and other parts of the world to call for an early end to the war.

[Samantha Ghazal / Australian rally participant] We know that 40,000 people have died in Gaza. We're watching the violence in real time, and nothing is done.]

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres also called for an immediate end to the shocking violence and bloodshed.

[Antoniu Guterres / UN Secretary-General: It is time to put down the firearm and stop the suffering that has engulfed the region.]

While all mediation efforts by the U.S. and other countries around the world have come to nothing, the world's attention is now not on ceasefire negotiations, but on the brink of outbreak, the fifth Middle East war.
