Samsung Electronics' stock price has been losing steam recently, falling to the 50,000 won level in another session a day before its third-quarter earnings report.

Although it recovered to the 60,000 won level in the second half of the market due to the influx of backlash buying taxes, it was too contrasting with SK Hynix's more than 6% increase.

Reporter Ryu Hwan-hong reports.

Samsung Electronics' stock price fell to 59,500 won in early trading, falling to 50,000 won again following the 2nd.

Although the 60,000 won level recovered immediately due to the influx of backlash buying, it closed at 61,000 won, up 0.66% from the previous trading day, pushed by net sales of more than 500 billion won by foreigners.

Foreigners have continued their net selling streak for 20 days since the 3rd of last month.

The share of market capitalization in the securities market fell to the 60,000-won level in early July, the lowest level in two years, as the stock price soared to 87,800 won.

A foreign brokerage house lowered its target price to 64,000 won, while most local brokerages, which called for 100,000 electronics, also lowered their target price below 100,000 won.

The market has also lowered its upcoming third-quarter earnings expectations.

This is because SK Hynix lost its leadership in the HBM market, which has rapidly emerged in the AI craze, and HBM delivery to Nvidia is being delayed.

[Yum Seung-hwan / Director of LS Securities: Samsung Electronics is still testing. Nvidia is supplied only when it is tested and passed, and the unit price is three to four times more expensive than conventional semiconductors. So, Samsung Electronics, which failed to deliver it, has no choice but to lose to Hynix..]

On the other hand, shares of SK Hynix, considered the beneficiary of AI chip leader Nvidia, rose more than 6 percent to recover to the 180,000 won level in three trading days.

Securities firms are even predicting that SK Hynix will be able to slightly outpace Samsung Electronics in its third-quarter operating profit.
