Regarding the Ministry of Education's proposal to shorten the academic course from six years to five years depending on the university, the Korea Federation of Severe Diseases urged the suspension, saying it is a policy that only encourages conflict.

In a press release, the federation said it agreed on the need for medical school increases and medical reform, but criticized the Education Ministry for suddenly bringing up a "five-year medical school" policy, leading to another controversy over medical student leave of absence and paid, only amplifying anxiety.
