Police have requested arrest warrants for three managers of primary battery military delivery departments such as Arisel in connection with the fire at the Arisel plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, which caused 31 casualties.

The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's wide-area investigation team today (10th) filed an arrest warrant for one Aricel official and two Econec officials, Aricel's parent company, on charges of obstruction and fraud.

They are accused of obstructing the Ministry of National Defense's work by manufacturing a separate battery for quality inspection and replacing it with a sample to pass the quality inspection for primary battery military delivery.

Earlier, Arisel was found to have manipulated data and supplied 4.7 billion won worth of batteries to the military from 2021 to February this year, and police suspect that Arisel parent company Econec deceived the Agency for Defense Technology and Quality in the same way in 2017.
