A court ruled that actor Yoon Ji-oh, a testifier of the "Go Jang Ja-yeon case," does not have to return donations to sponsors.
The Seoul Central District Court recently ruled against the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed against Yoon by 430 sponsors, including A.
The court judged that the evidence submitted by the sponsors alone was insufficient to admit that Yoon committed fraud or made him fall into an error to pay the donation.
In addition, it is not clear whether Yoon deceived the sponsors as the investigation into the alleged fraud is currently suspended due to the unknown whereabouts, adding that most of the evidence from the sponsors was the content of the articles raising suspicions.
Earlier, Yoon had raised money in 2019, saying he would create a non-profit organization to protect the personal safety of testifiers, and sponsors filed a lawsuit demanding 30 million won in compensation, saying Yoon had misappropriated the donation privately.
Yoon left for Canada in April 2019.
