National Police Agency inspection...Ruling and opposition parties, 'Munda-hye and Kim Gun-hee' battle

2024.10.11 오후 03:34
In today (11th), the National Police Agency's parliamentary audit conducted by the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, the ruling and opposition parties clashed over former President Moon Jae In's daughter Da-hye's drunk driving and Kim Gun-hee's patrol of Mapo Bridge.

Prior to the questioning, Rep. Lee Dal-hee of the People's Power played a video of former President Moon's past remarks that drunk driving is not a mistake, but a murder, and urged Moon Da-hye to apply the crime of dangerous driving with a high level of punishment, not just drunk driving.

Lee Sung-kwon, a member of the People's Power, then asked Cho Ji-ho, head of the National Police Agency, to coordinate the public investigation as Moon became a public concern because he was the daughter of a former president.

In response, ruling party lawmakers protested and shouted when Shin Jeong-hoon, chairman of the National Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, demanded restraint, saying it was not a hearing for Moon.

Opposition lawmakers took issue with Kim Gun-hee's walking patrol with police on Mapo Bridge on the 10th of last month to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

Rep. Lee Kwang-hee of the Democratic Party criticized Kim for making a move like an on-site inspection of the ruler, asking the police for a preemptive response and pointing out that there are many shortcomings.

Rep. Lee Hae-sik of the Democratic Party asked Cho if Kim had traffic control, saying she had stayed at Mapo Bridge at a time of extreme traffic congestion, and Cho replied that she had never had traffic control.
