Foreign media have also paid attention to the growing number of people who consider dogs as family members in Korea, where the fertility rate is decreasing and the number of single-person households is increasing rapidly.

The U.S. daily New York Times said, "In Korea, where the birth rate is the lowest in the world and most of the population lives alone, dogs have become beloved family members."

In particular, it was noted that Korea, which has been at the center of international debate due to the tradition of raising edible dogs in the past, has transformed into a country that boasts an unusual love for dogs in recent years.

"More and more Koreans choose unmarried or childless," he said. "More than two-fifths of all households are single-person households, and the fertility rate is among the lowest in the world."

He also explained that as more families think of dogs as children, the wind speed is changing, such as animal hospitals, pet supplies stores, "dog cars" for dogs, companion dog trips, and dog funeral services.
