MBCx Lifetime's "Men Who Clean the Earth" (hereinafter referred to as "Getting Through") which premieres today (15th) at 9 p.m., is a new concept ESG-oriented travel program that looks back on the environment through trips that go without. Kim Seok-hoon, Kwon Yul, Lim Woo-il, Shin Jae-ha, and Nomadion have a pleasant journey, emitting unexpected tiki-taka in front of unpredictable situations and overwhelming Mother Nature in remote Mongolia.
Ahead of the first broadcast, a production presentation of "Getting Closer" was held at the MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul at 2 p.m. that day. Cast members Kim Seok-hoon, Kwon Yul, Lim Woo-il, Shin Jae-ha, Nomadion, and producer Kim Kyung-hee were present.
In recent years, travel programs have become a trend in broadcasters. In the meantime, 'Getting Through' has declared differentiation with a different plan called ESG-oriented eco-travel that leaves as it is without. "Losing Man" was also selected as a supporting work for the production of the Korea Broadcasting and Communications Agency (KCA) in 2024.
In particular, various faces of Mongolia, which have never been revealed in broadcasting, are expected to be introduced in "Losing Men." From the unrealistically beautiful night sky of Mongolia, the brilliantly beautiful plains, and the huge landfill that attracted explosive attention after the release of the teaser video. Mongolia's colorful landscapes captured by the "Losing" camera will give you a special time to look back on nature, the environment and consumption at least once.
At the production presentation on the day, Kim Seok-hoon said, "You can consider it an environmental entertainment show. Environmental issues are a very big topic in news and media these days. I thought it would be a good program if I mix entertainment with the environment, he said. "I don't know what the result will be, but I'm waiting for tonight with anticipation." Kwon Yul, who has experience in travel programs such as
{Europe Outside the Tent', said, "I had a few experiences in travel entertainment, and it was a time where I had a lot of thoughts because I met a program that could get closer to something meaningful and new."
"My life hasn't changed dramatically since I traveled through this program, but I think it's been a great experience to consume, know, and recognize something," he said. "I hope viewers will start to think like that."
Lim Woo-il, who said that his dream was to run a travel program, said, "Thank you so much for making that dream come true in 'Getting Through'." "It wasn't just a trip, it was a trip where I felt something. It is a program like Pyeongyang naengmyeon, which is less of a provocative smile. I think it's a program that makes you think of it at least once when you turn around," he said.
Shin Jae-ha, the youngest member of the program, said, "I think I was able to finish more comfortably because I was able to be with such good seniors," adding, "I think I have a different message of resolution than other travel entertainment shows."
Nomadion, a YouTuber who mainly explores remote areas, said, "It was the most meaningful trip of my life. I was grateful for every moment. I am also continuing my trip, but I have never traveled while thinking about the environment. I always carry a tumbler in real life, and I think it will be an opportunity to think about the environment at least once," he said.
"Losing Man" is a program that started from the world view of "Mr. Kim Seok-hoon." Asked what ideas he added to the broadcast, Kim Seok-hoon said, "I'm more interested in stories around my house, my neighborhood, our country, and us than in stories of distant countries," and then said, "When producer Kim Kyung-hee proposed a trip to Mongolia, it was related to our country." Fine Dust Fine dust is common now, but more than 20 years ago, it was very shocking. I heard that it started in Mongolia."
"The country of Mongolia has this problem due to changes in the environment, and I thought, 'This also affects our country,' and since then, I have been interested in Mongolia. So I started, and we exchanged good opinions. I've been talking a lot for quite a long time since February, and I've come to this day," he said.
Kwon Yul said, "As the unfamiliar subject of the environment is attached to the trip, I wondered what our program's identity would be," adding, "If the existing travel entertainment shows focused on the teammate we left together at that moment, it was a much more memorable and meaningful trip because we traveled with a good movement that did not force anyone this time."
He said, "In the past, I used to order a lot of delivery food. When plastic containers come out, it seems that we have reached a turning point in our thoughts that feel burdensome now. Life is changing little by little by buying side dishes from side dish stores in the house and eating rice," he said, referring to the change through this trip.
Shin Jae-ha also drew attention by saying, "When I came back to Korea and went shopping, they put a lot of things in plastic bags no matter what I buy, but I thought they were making a lot of trash, so I brought something that could be recycled."
I'm also looking forward to the chemistry of the five members. Kim Seok-hoon said, "I was in charge of 'planning coordination'. No matter which company you go to, there is a "basement room," he said, proud of his pivotal role. Kwon Yul said, "I was in charge of 'Receiving a Wish'. It plays a role like a public relations office. I think I complained the most," he said, drawing laughter. Lim Woo-il said, "I was a senior sergeant. It's a word that's gone now. I ordered the captain's order below."
Shin Jae-ha said, "I was in charge of photography under the Ministry of Finance and the Public Relations Office. I took a lot of pictures," Nomadion said, "I was a guide. I tried to make an effort, but I think there was a part that guided me well," he said with a smile. Kwon Yul trembled, saying, "It could seem like a vertical system, but it was a horizontal system." said, "The place we went to is where it takes less than an hour for nomads to build their houses. It is a place where you feel happy when you don't have a house and a large meadow, and if you don't have one, you can feel happy. "It realistically shows how consumption can give us pleasure as we go from downtown to remote areas, and how reducing waste while consuming less can change our lives," he said.
