Oversight of the National Assembly, 'YTN privatization and TBS crisis'

The ruling and opposition parties clashed over the privatization of YTN and the lifting of TBS's Seoul-based organization during the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly's Science, ICT and Communications Commission.

The ruling party evaluated the privatization of YTN as a normalization measure for public broadcasting and pointed out that it is outside the scope of the parliamentary audit as it is also arguing over the legality of the sale of YTN's stake in an administrative lawsuit.

On the other hand, the opposition party compared the Yoon Suk Yeol government to "disposing stolen goods by twisting the neck" of existing major shareholders such as KEPCO KDN and the Korea Racing Authority, arguing that the YTN privatization process is unclear.

There was also a war of words over TBS, which was on the verge of collapse.

The People's Power criticized TBS, which had been on the Democratic Party's side, for drying up and dying, and the Democratic Party protested that TBS had never served for the Democratic Party, saying that the Democratic Party was Japanese imperialism.
