According to the "Current Status and Growth Factors of the Delivery Industry" report released by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea's annual parcel delivery volume reached 5.15 billion last year, up 53% from three years ago.

In terms of the number of times each citizen has used it, it amounts to 100.4.

The KCCI analyzed that the parcel delivery market grew as courier companies handled the volume quickly amid fierce supplier competition due to ultra-low-priced offensive by Chinese commerce such as Ali and Temu.

It also said that free delivery and return benefits have reduced the burden of consumers using parcel delivery and the formation of a low-cost parcel unit structure such as automation of logistics facilities.

However, he added that as there are side effects such as one-time containers and overpackaging, the efforts of the state and companies on eco-friendly packaging need to be raised together.
