An incumbent police officer has been arrested urgently for stealing hundreds of millions of won worth of confiscated goods.

In some cases, a police officer was fired for paying off personal debt by stealing the cash seized earlier.

The issue of police discipline has been put on the cutting board.

to check the confiscated material obtained during an investigation at Gangnam Police Station in Seoul We have detected suspicious circumstances where the amount does not match.

The police on the hunt arrested Officer A, who belongs to the investigation department, urgently at the office.

Chief A, who is in charge of managing confiscated materials, was found to have stolen cash from the gambling board and stored at the police station several times.

The police believe that the amount collected is 300 million won.

However, this is not the only case of police embezzlement of confiscated goods.

Earlier in May this year, Lieutenant B of Wando Police Station was fired for stealing tens of millions of won in cash seized in a gambling case.Lieutenant

B was found to have taken 34 million won in cash from a confiscated warehouse for nearly a year from October 2022, and it was confirmed that he paid off his personal debt with the stolen money.

From January to September of this year, the highest level of disciplinary action against police officers, 25 cases of dismissal, has already reached the highest level.
