ASML CEO "Semiconductor Recession Will Continue Through Next Year"

2024.10.17 오전 10:11
The CEO of ASML, the world's No. 1 semiconductor equipment manufacturer, predicted that the recession in the semiconductor industry will continue until next year.

According to Bloomberg News and others, ASML CEO Christophe Puke said in a conference call with investors on the 16th that customers are delaying some investment due to slow recovery in semiconductor demand.

Although artificial intelligence and energy transition provide room for a rise, the recovery of demand in the automobile, mobile and computer markets is slow, and he explained that he will slow down his short-term investment plans.

Chief Financial Officer Roger Dasen says U.S. restrictions on equipment exports are a factor in ASML's sluggish performance and expects Chinese sales to fall next year.

Last year, 29% of ASML's sales came from China, but next year's share of sales in China will fall to 20%, ASML predicted.

Dutch company ASML exclusively produces extreme ultraviolet exposure equipment, which is essential for mass production of advanced semiconductors, so major semiconductor manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics and Taiwan's TSMC are using ASML's equipment.
