Singer Zico, head of Hive label KOZ Entertainment, recently refuted allegations that he was shared with the controversial "Hive Internal Report."
On the 30th, Zico said in an Instagram story, "I think it would be better to check the article reported today and tell you in person, so I leave a message."
Zico explained, "I've never seen the document, and I've never read the mail itself," adding, "I learned for the first time that it was added to the recipient through today's article."
He added, "We also confirmed the record that we did not open all of the mail and documents by directly requesting KOZ before expressing our position whether this explanation would lead to further misunderstandings."
Earlier in the day, a media outlet reported that Chairman Bang Si-hyuk ordered author Kang to add KOZ Entertainment CEO Zico to the recipient during the in-house sharing process of "Hive's internal report" in January 2022, and that he obtained an e-mail containing this situation.
As the controversial internal report contained provocative appearance reviews of domestic idol group members, whether Zico also received the document and actually read it became a hot topic.
This report was first released at the parliamentary audit of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee on the 24th, causing a stir. It turned out that the document titled "Weekly Music Industry Report" was sent every week to Hive and other affiliated label chief executives, the city (C) level.
As the controversy continued, Hive CEO Lee Jae-sang acknowledged and apologized for the inappropriateness of the document on the company's official website on the 29th, saying, "We acknowledge all the wrongs and responsibilities on behalf of the company for the provocative and primary expressions toward K-pop artists, the addition of the author's personal views and evaluations, and the contents left as documents."
